repeated error after clicking launch

I’m not sure if my usb is maybe bad even though I cleaned it and reformatted. whenever I select the file then the usb drive and click launch Im prompted to allow command prompt (windows 7) to click yes then it just fails.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Hi, Can you provide more information about how it fails? Does it show any error message? Are there any errors in devtools console tab? (press Ctrl+Alt+I to open)

Hi, I’ve been having same problem, exactly same thing happened. Immediately I click yes to the command prompt it stops, and an error message pops up saying something like “Oops it’s failed” sorry can’t remember exactly. But I’ve solved it, sort of, so might help if I give some background.

Few weeks back I did a clean install of Windows 7 on an old Vista laptop. Right pain as well but I won’t bore you with the details, except to say it took a fair bit of time to get everything working correctly. Today I downloaded the latest version of Balena and when it didn’t work properly my first thought was “here we go again”. I tried repeatedly with different USB sticks and different ISO images but it wasn’t having it.

I’ve been using Balena for a while and it’s always worked perfectly on my other Windows 7 laptop. So as an experiment I copied the old version from that (version 1.5.58), pasted and installed it on this laptop. Plugged in a USB stick to flash and hey presto, worked perfectly.

So I’m not sure what’s going on, but it seems something doesn’t agree with latest version. By the way, how exactly do I access the devtools console tab? I’ve tried pressing the keys quoted above but it brings up nothing at all on my screen. Is there another way to access it?

Hope this is some help.

In general it’s the same keyboard shortcut as on chromium. And on windows I think you can use Control+Shift+J.

Please paste here the output of the console when the issue occurs.

I just tried the version 1.5.58 you mentioned and it’s working so far! didn’t get the same error. Thanks so much!
