Hi,
I’ve been trying to use Balena Etcher on my Arch install to write a variety of images including (2019-09-26-raspbian-buster-lite.img or DietPi_v6.25_RPi-ARMv6-Buster.img) but I keep getting en error message “something went wrong. if it is a compressed image, please check that the archive is not corrupted”. I’m omn Arch with version 1.5.61 and I have gconf installed too. What am I missing to get it working correctly?

Hi could you please take a look at the dev tools console (can be opened with Ctrl+Alt+i) in Etcher and post error messages you see there?
I tried to open the dev tools console with Ctrl+Alt+i but no console is opening, what’s the trick with this? 
Hi, I just tried it here and it is Ctrl+Shift+I for Arch. Also you may see the menu of the application by pressing Alt only and you will find the developer tools under the View.

I maintain the balena-etcher package in the AUR (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/balena-etcher/) and have just pushed a downgrade to pin the package to 1.5.60 for now, which I’ve confirmed to be working. I need to investigate what’s changed a bit further, and hope to get to that by the end of this week (support for this package is “unofficial” and I do my best to keep up!). If you require the latest and greatest balenaEtcher, I recommend using the etcher-bin package: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/etcher-bin/ at least until this issue is resolved.
Please let me know if you’re still having issues, otherwise you should be forced to downgrade at your next update.
Hi @Johny, and welcome to the forums. This looks like a different issue, and there is a similar issue reported here: https://github.com/balena-io/etcher/issues/2859. I’ve reproduced this issue with the AppImage version on Ubuntu 19.10 running Etcher 1.5.68. If you use the deb version, then it works. You can get the latest deb version from here https://github.com/balena-io/etcher/tree/v1.5.68.
Please let me know if you’re still having issues.

I meant any error messages you could find in the logs console tab (no the elements tab).
FYI, there is another thread on forums where we discovered a regressing in AppImage distribution of the recent Etcher version, which will get fixed in the next version.

Hi. Looks like you are running version 1.5.61. Could you try either downgrading to 1.5.60 by reinstalling the package from the AUR, or replacing it with the etcher-bin package? Either of those should work.
Yes, great! I just updated my AURs with yay -Syyu and it succesfully downloaded and downgraded to Etcher 1.5.60 which works like a charm!

To solve the problem, just right-click the software (i.e. balenaEtcher) and run it as administrator on Windows PC.

I in full 2021, as they described the problem, the same happens to me, now I’m with Linux lite, when I did ctrl + shift + i on the console I vote this error.
