Hello,
I have a Etcher Pro that was working and now when I power it up it comes up to the balena etcher pro screen and that’s as far as it gets. Is there some way to reset it? I have unplugged it for over a day and it still just sits at the welcome screen never gets to the screen to clone things. Also when I first plugged it in it said that it was supposed to ask to hook up to my wireless network that never happened. I went to the gear and there is no way to reset it, but now I can’t even get to that. Help
This is most likely the same issue that several users experienced recently - the team has published one workaround to get the device back up and running, which can be seen in this forum thread: Does your EtcherPro fail to boot up? Here's what to do! - #3 Scroll down to the “beta solution” that is presented and follow the steps.
Bad news it doesn’t work. So how do go about getting a replacement. Oh one thing when we first got it and plugged it in the first time according to the manual it was supposed to ask for your Wi-Fi info and it never did figured maybe that might help?
Thank you for the feedback on the divergence between documentation and first start procedure. I take a note to fix it.
I sent a message to my colleagues to arrange for the replacement. They will contact you to check with the details.
Thanks so much seems like a great product it did work for a little while but then it just died. We kept it plugged in all the time should be unplug it when not in use?
No need to unplug, keeping it plugged when not used allows for updates to download (the device will only update while the screen is off to prevent corrupting a flash in progress when the software restarts).
We are not sure on what append with your unit, can you pinpoint the date it started to fail? It might help us correlate it with an update we have been pushing. Ether way we will investigate the unit once we get it, it looks like a software failure but we would prefer to have a deep look into the system to ensure it will not append again.
Well that’s just it this system was never attached to the internet because we were unable to configure it to connect to our wi-fi. When I went into the settings there was nothing to configure the wi-fi just the version number was there. I was told about the unit not working on 9/20/2022
Thanks about that precision, this will massively help to orient the search for the point of failure.
Just so you know, the WiFi can be configured by clicking the “WiFi” logo on the main interface (upper left corner of the interface, it will be grayed out when not connected, green with signal strength when connected). This will bring a list of active WiFi hot-spots and allow you to enter credentials to connect to it (with a on-screen keyboard, but you also can connect a USB keyboard to any USB port if it is more convenient for you).
Otherwise there is always an option to use USB to Ethernet to connect to wired network like we initially suggested, but it will reduce the amount of available USB ports you can use for flashing.
I have attempted to fix our etcher Pro with the listed procedure, but nothing has changed. Our contract manufacturer needs at least one working unit as soon as possible.
The fan and screen turn on initially, then the screen goes blank. The screen then displays the logo indefinitely. Fan is also off at this point. There is an odd sound emanating from the device roughly 1.5 times per second.
I’m so sorry to hear that. Can you please contact us at distribution@balena.io so our distribution department can handle the return of the faulty device and send you a new one? Thank you. We’ll be waiting for your message. Cheers!
