I had the same problem. After reading this long list of posts and seeing no attempt to help from the developer, I tried the “right-click and Run as administrator (even though I was logged in on in Win10 as administrator) and that worked for selecting the file. But then I got another error message when it tried to “Flash”. On a second try, it could not see my memory stick. When I removed it and plugged it back in, it saw the stick, and seemed to work. It finished writing and spent a lot of time verifying until it was almost to the end when it returned with the same error message. I didn’t copy the message and now my USB memory stick seems to be nonfunctional. It was almost new.
I’m not very computer literate but I am fed up trying to load Zorin onto my W10 laptop, I’ve followed instructions to the letter in a popular computer magazine, everything worked fine until I had to insert a memory stick and send Zorin to it using Balenaetcher, all I get is an error message saying “error opening source” ERROR:9)’h.requestMetadata is not a function. I have read many comments for a workaround but none work for me. I’m ready for tossing this laptop in the bin so any help would be greatly appreciated. I downloaded Balena today and I am using a HP Pavillion x360 laptop.

I was using Revo Uninstaller and noticed that the install comes with both the Windows 10 & 11 version. I uninstalled the Windows 11 version and the program worked as it should.
idk if anyone still having issues but my fix was to put the etcher shortcut and the iso in the same folder. i ran the program as admin pointed it to the ISO and it worked. this was on a windows 10 machine. Hope this helps someone.
Hello! I’ve seen lots of posts about needing to grant admin rights and wanted to provide some clarification on what worked for me.
I received the same Error(0,h.requestMetadata) is not a function when trying to load the .iso on a Win 11 Pro machine. I tried to “Run as Admin” by right-clicking from the Start menu with no luck.
However, running the .exe in my downloads as admin worked. Hope this helps!
