BalenaOS Startup

Hello:

Currently, I don’t have a web cam with me, but I do have a mic / headset. All I currently want is the mic.

The Raspberry Pi keeps informing me (via the logs interface), that “video device is not ready” is there a way to just seek the audio device? Can that be simply done?

Just for clearing things up. You are trying to make the balenaCam project working with just audio?

Hi Robert:

Sound would really help things currently. I can perfom both fuctions via some web page eventually, but I guess for now I need sound. I have a headset / mic plugged into the pi currently. It is a borescope cam, so it lacks audio ( hence the headset deal). Perhaps the audio function is fully operable now, and I’m not knowing how to invoke that one simple sub function. If it’s there, I don’t know how to access it yet. BOTH the bore cam, and the mic (headset) are plugged in when I test the board (the board is turned off at this present time).

Any help would be appreciated.

The balenaCam project here: https://github.com/balena-io-playground/balena-cam unfortunately does not do sound. If you’re going to be working on that and get it working we would definitely welcome a PR

Robert:

There are people who have WebRTC transferring sound globally, but I’m having trouble perfecting those systems. I’m not a guru, don’t know of anyone who is. Someone probably has the background to get this audio fully up and running. Do you guys know of anyone. ??

We’ve opened an issue on BalenaCam for this https://github.com/balena-io-playground/balena-cam/issues/45 but not expecting it to be quick thing on our side. This would be great from the community side, if anyone with the right setup would contribute to the project or make it work in a different way. Unfortunately we don’t know anyone personally, but worth asking around (here or elsewhere with WebRTC knowledge).
