Balena-Sound; connects but doesn't give out any audio

I can connect to the raspberry pie using all the connections types, and it says its playing, yet no audio is given out of both the aux and HDMI.
Error message when rebooting:>

Hi there,
could you please give more information about the device ? May I also ask which version of BalenaOS it is running ? Are you using a 32bit or 64bit application ?

I actually have this issue too that has started between 2 weeks ago. I noticed a reboot on my two separate installs 4 days ago. Here are my details of one unit.

Both units have been working perfectly for 10 months and both have hifi-dacplus cards. I’m streaming from iOS 14.4 to airplay and have multiroom disabled. Have BT and Spotify enabled. The Pi’s no longer appear in the iOS BT. BT interface is also impacted. They show up on the airplay selection, but no audio. Somehow this seems like an iOS change that maybe the cause. ¯_(ツ)_/¯.

Hi @d.m ,
could you please clarify if any updates have been made on the device? I ask this to understand the reason for the reboot. Also could you please copy/paste device logs to see if there is something wrong?
(e.g. with journalctl -f -n 1000)

I did an OS update on 2/13 when the issue happened so the reboot 3 days prior seems to have been cleared when the OS update happened. How do I just dump the sound system starting up might be better to see?

When was the last time you updated balenaOS and the latest release of balenaSound? There have been a few updates in the last ten months and you might just need a new release of everything. Get the latest info here. Let’s see what a fresh install does.

Also, regarding logs, you can filter logs by specific services to hone in on what’s going on. In the new build of Sound, I’d check out the logs for the audio and bluetooth services.

I am having a similar issue where I can see my pi zero is connected, however no audio is going through. I wonder if this is an issue with the DAC interface? I am using a hifiberry dac zero and it was working fine all of last week. I’ve had no ability to play through airplay or bluetooth however.

I have tried re-flashing, creating a new application and new device but still no joy.

There’s actually an issue open for this - it seems to be an issue with the 64 bit OS running on a Pi 3. There’s a comment there that solved the issue for me - remove the vc4-kms-v3d overlay from the device configuration and reboot.
