I installed Balena etcher 2.1.0 on NEW Beelink windows 11. It won’t flash to the pcs internal SSD drive. I tried the file on a different pc and it worked fine. I have turned off firewall and ran as administrator. Is there something I am missing on this new PC?
Are you trying to flash an image to a secondary SSD drive installed in your PC? (As opposed to your main Win 11 drive) What kind of image are you trying to flash?
I am trying to flash it to a secondary SSD hard drive on a B link mini PC. When I select the file and it comes back to the main page, I get a circle with the red line through it. I downloaded Etcher on another windows pc and it worked fine. I have disabled Windows firewall, run it as administrator, and given it all file permissions no luck. Is there anything else I should be looking at?
Can I flash Batocera to the other PC and copy it on a USB and copy and paste it onto the mini PC?
I’m lost
If Etcher thinks it is a system drive it won’t let you select it as a target. Looking at the Batocera page, it looks like you can just flash the Batocera image to a USB stick (16 GB or more recommended) and boot your PC from that without making any permanent changes to your PC. It’s “safer” than trying to flash to an SSD inside your PC. You could alternatively connect your SSD to a SATA to USB device to make it an external drive.
Thank you for your reply. If I put it on a USB, can I copy the USB to the hard drive that I want it to reside on?
Unfortunately I don’t think that will work because of the partitions that likely need to be set up on the drive. (That may be a question for a Batocera forum!) If you have another PC that lets you flash to the SSD, perhaps temporarily place the SSD there, flash it, then place back in the Beelink.
