This software kills USB drives!!!

This software killed two of my usb drives. one 16gb usb drive. Another one that is 128gb. Keeps trying to reformat. Ends up being 5.7gb of space. Not formated. Windows 11. Increditably fuming with anger. This software is arguably useless. And wastes perfectly good usb drives. I am writing this not only because i’m angry. But because I need tell everyone why this software recommended by ubuntu is obviously bad. There is no way this software could kill usb drives. But apparently it did. I’m sorry I really wished this worked. Software brings up the command line. Then messes up the formatting. Then it tells me it failed. I would really like help. But I think it should do this.

I suppose everything is fine with yours usb drives. It’s just because of Windows  Thing is that Windows doesn’t support more than one partition on usb drive. Download something like MiniTool Partition Wizard and delete all partitions and create one and yours usb drives will be like new one. Alternatively you can use any Linux distro to do the same.

Hello,
I can’t say this will fix your problem with certainty, but I experienced similar problems with my USB’s after I used them for Linux Mint and Ubuntu installs this week. I’m using Window 10 and can’t speak to Win11 processes. Try doing some searching on using the command prompt and the command “diskpart”. I did that and found out how to force fixes on USB drives and the mutliple partitions Etcher created on each USB drive. Get into the command prompt, use the diskpart command, use the “list disk” command and then you may have to experiment with “attributes disk clear readonly” or “clean” and “convert gpt”. I tried all of those and eventually was able to format my USBs using the Disk Management feature in the old “administrative tools” window of the old control panel. Unfortunately I have no formal training in thos sort of thing and I learn by searching and copying so I apologize if my help is poorly explained.
