problems rrunning etcher on debian 10 (32 bit)

This is my first time using Etcher so apologies if I am making beginner mistakes here.
I am running Debian 10 (32 bit) and plan to build a Debian 11 (64 bit) image
on a flash drive and install it onto my machine.
I downloaded Etcher without problems and unzipped it getting file: balenaEtcher-1.7.0-x64.AppImage.
When I attempt to double click on it using the places GUI the file has the name: (pile of funny symbols)(invalid encoding). Note: the (invalid encoding) part including parentheses is exact copy. Double clicking on this file
didn’t work of course.

I assume the problem here is that I am running a 32 bit version of Debian and this isn’t going to work.
Is this correct?
Must I find a 64 bit version of Linux in order to install the Debian 11 onto a flash drive?
Can I do this from a windows machine?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Ralph

You are correct @Ralph – that version of Etcher is a 64-bit build, and it will not run on your current 32-bit Debian system. If you have access to a Windows machine, that is probably the quickest and easiest way to just get the desired Debian-64 image flashed, and ready for use. Thanks!
