I wanted to install Tails on Mac OS Monterey and have tried 100 times and different things but after flashing the USB is empty. If I format it Mac Os properly, the USB can be found in the Finder, but after I flash Tails and everything old is deleted during flashing, it can no longer be seen in the Finder and it is empty, although it was successfully installed during flashing.

Hello,

can you please give some more details. Can you please link to the image that you want to flash, I don’t know what ‘tails’ is.
On macOS can you please check with the disk utilities that the USB stick is empty or if there are just partitions on it that macOS cannot mount?
For example, if the USB stick will end up with a ext4 filesystem after flashing, macOS will not be able to mount the partition.

Best Regards
Harald

Hi Harald,

Thank you for reply

Tails is a virtual ubs bootable box for incognito live system ( similar to virtual box but safer).
The problem is that first of all mac does not find the empty USB in the finder, but if I choose to delete it and do macOs extendet then it appears in the finder. But when flashing the tails everything is deleted anyway, it shows me even flashes at least with the etcher, but after that the usb is empty and can only be found in the hard disc utility.

In summary it shows me on etcher that is flashes but there is empty nothing inn after flashing.

I have also followed the exact instructions several times even tried.

Hi @serkan, linux partitions are not necessarily visible on other os like macos, could you try to proceed with booting up tails from the pendrive even if it looks empty on macos? Let me know if that works.
