Please help me get balenaEtcher working so I can create a bootable thumb drive with either rescuezilla or redo rescue so I can back up my system prior to updating to debian trixie
current system Debian 12 bookworm, kernel 6.1.0-38, KDE 5.103
Tried Etcher versions 2.1.4, 2.1.2, and 1.18.11-x64.appimage
iso files rescuezilla-2.6.1-64bit.oracular.iso and redorescue-4.0.0.iso
All checksums were accurate.
I had to install desktop-file-utils and create a symbolic link from /opt/balenaetcher to /usr/lib/balena-etcher to complete the install so there were no issues/failures during install.
I select the iso file, select the thumb drive and click flash. I immediately get a password box to authorize the use of /bin/bash. The process kicks off with a status of ‘starting’. it sits at that stage for 10-15 seconds then pops the error. Both version 2.12 and 2.1.4 give the error ‘Error starting flasher sidecar process’. Version 1.18.11 gives ‘the elevated process died unexpectedly’
