I get a message after flagging pop OS to usb thumb drive of " the disk you inserted is not readble by this computer" this is on an iMac running Mac OS high Sierra. any ideas on what’s wrong and how to get it to work?
Hi It could be normal behavior: see this forum ticket disk you inserted is not readble by this computer.
Which OS have you flashed?
What device are you flashing it for?
Does it work for booting your device?
Thanks
Thanks for your reply Rose,
I tried to flash Pop OS 22.04 LTS with etcher to use on an iMac with OS High Sierra 10.13.6.
I tried to boot into the flash drive ( a PNY 16gb flash drive) on the iMac from the startup disk option screen.
At first it looked like it was going to work. I briefly saw a Pop OS intro screen and then a page of rapidly scrolling scripts for a about 3-5 seconds. Then the screen went to black and nothing else ever happened, even though I waited for a substantial amount of time (about 15 minutes) I finally had to turn off the computer with the power switch to get out of the black screen.

Hi Marc, the process you describe sounds fine, and the “not readable by this computer” message is normal. Can you try flashing again, and just select “ignore” when you see that message? If Etcher doesn’t report any other errors, then it is likely the flashing process has worked fine. If Pop!_OS fails to boot, then it may be an issue with Pop!_OS. Do you have another computer you can try booting with the flash drive, to narrow down where the issue might be?
