Can't flash an M.2 SSD- hundreds of lines of errors.

I have two 500gB M.2 SSD drives that I am trying to flash a binary image file. The SSD was cleaned with FDISK and partitioned for Windows 10. The flash is from a URL Almost as soon as the flash begins, I get “Something went wrong”, followed by hundreds of lines of messages. Starting with:

Command failed: cmd /c
"C:\users\steve\AppData\Local\Temp\etcher\balena-etcher-electron-859751805da5.cmd"

I get the same error with either M.2 drive, and on two different Windows 10 computers.

Any advice would be appreciated.

UPDATE. I downloaded the file, haos_generic-x86-64-10.3.img.xz, to my PC and Etcher flashed the drive OK.
