Cannot Flash MicroSD

I’m attempting to flash a HOOBS image file to a Micro SD.

I have tried to download the .XZ file a few times to rule out a corrupt file. I have tried three different Micro SD cards, and have used four different adapters (to convert to USB-A and standard SD converters to connect to my PC. I’ve also tried to flash the cards on two different computers. Lastly, I’ve allowed balenaEtcher to format, and I’ve pre-formatted the cards with a SD Format utility.

All fail after completing the validation step (“Something went wrong, If it is a compressed image, please check that the archive us not corrupted.” The writer process ended unexpectedly."). That card itself does apprear to have been written, but all files and folders are gibberish.

Any ideas how to flash this HOOBS image?

I just tried flashing that image to a 32 GB microSD card and it worked fine for me - no gibberish. I did unzip the file first before flashing, and flashed the unzipped file. (select “all files/ *.*” from the open file dialog box since the unzipped file has no extension.)
