I’m running the latest BalenaEtcher on ubuntu as sudo, and it’s not showing any targets other than my laptops hard drive.

Could you tell us a bit more about what type of drive you’re trying to flash? Is it an SD card? If so, how is it connected to the PC?
It would also be helpful if you could send us the result of running lsusb on the terminal.
