"User did not grant permission" - error

I’ve been trying to flash a new micro SD card and I keep getting error seen below. I’ve tried upgrading to latest version for win10 1.7.9, I’ve tried running in admin mode, I’ve tried the portable version and I’ve tried the starting Balena via cmd (I’ve read a few forums posts). I haven’t been able to find any issues with my antivirus, but I don’t see how that could be the cause (happend to one person in another thread). Incredibly frustrating as the error is too generic.

What I’m trying to do is to flash MyCroft AI for my RPI 4. Edit: Have also tried to flash with an OpenMediaVault image with identical results.

Any help would be appreciated.

PS. I encountered this issue when I tried re-flashing another SD card over six months ago with no luck using an older version. I gave up on trying to solve it then.

Hi!

Thanks for trying to help! I haven’t worked on this project since I wrote my question; my mum passed away the day after…

I’ve tried using Balena normally and “run as admin”, never been prompted to type in a password. They only promt I get is the one I’ve attached.

balenaEtcher_zQZS1TsBN5

Thank you

Edit: I did turn off Windows defender.

I created a post in september and replied in december, but never got any further advice so I’m making a new post.

Hi,

we have seen some cases when the prompt for the password appeared under the etcher window, or under other windows difficult to notice.
You should check if it is your case. From this info I can’t get many other ideas.
Otherwise starting etcher as administrator at the beginning will remove the need for the permission grant during the process.

I hope this helps.

Hi mcraa!

I’ve never been prompted for a password and I’ve also tried running Balena as admin. I did check for prompts to be on the safe side.

The software worked some versions earlier, but I forgot which one.

Are there any more information that I can provide? As it stands two different images hasn’t worked to flash.

Thanks!
