Does Balena OS check and control any on-board temperature sensors. If not, can the feature be introduced in a future release.
I would, at least, like to see these being displayed as an option from the Covid dashboard. (Allows me to remove side panel when required.)

We do not include anything specific as a service on our Dashboard, but the kernel itself has the ability to monitor/control those temperatures.
Which device type do you use? One thing to watch out though is whether relevant drivers are included.

Other than that you can install applications/libraries in a container that can do the monitoring, e.g. what is available on Debian, etc.
