SSD partition USB cable Windows laptop flasing

Good Day,

I was wondering If i put my backup SSD with USB cable to my windows laptop and I have a separate partition on the SSD for a new Linux boot distro. Is it possible to select only that partition that it doesn’t Format the whole SSD?

The SSD is like used for Ubuntu but almost fully formated… it now looks like (500mb) old partition (65GB) backup partition for photos and a lot of music (45GB) new Linux distro and ( some unknown space) rest over of old system i couldn’t locate to delete haha… (500)(65)(45)(…) 4 partitions in total.

Your sincerely,

J. L. Nengerman.

Hi @jilnengerman,

Thanks for reaching out. Are you referring to balena Etcher tool wrt to SSD flashing?

I believe it’s not possible to control partitions when flashing as etcher does a byte for byte write onto the storage media. I am checking with our Etcher team as well if something like this has cropped up before.

Hi, I just wanted to jump in and clarify, flashing to a particular partition is currently not supported, although it could potentially be in the future.
