Hi,
as the downloaded databases seem to be located in /usr/app/boinc/slots/ etc folder, I’m asking myself, when to update my fleet to a new release?
Updating usually means service restart and this would wipe everything except the /data folder.
Is there a mechanism to prevent updating during a task is performed? Or will they “magically” be picked up again?
@manuti is exactly right here, with the old versions when you updated you would have lost progress but with the current ones you’re fine to push updates with the balena CLI (no need to flash the SD card again).
@chrisys My RPis all picked up the new web CLI today - nice look. Each one has been given a name such as “Fold for Covid @ wandering-sun”. Does this mean that I can somehow group these with my main computer (ID: 4337666) which is also chewing numbers but had to be registered with a new BOINC account when I set it up? Just wondering…
Chiming in for Chris here, but, yep you absolutely can. The button at the top-right of the new UI, will allow you to change your Account Key, which in this particular case would likely be the one that your main computer is using. You can grab it form the PC, or, in your Profile on the Rosetta@Home website.
Thanks. I changed the Account Key on all 6 of my Raspberry Pis, but Boinc is only showing four of them + my main computer. It might just be a time thing or a limit on how many it shows, but I can’t see any options for this.
UPDATE: Now 5 showing, just one left behind now.
UPDATE2: Still won’t connect, apparently because it has the same id as another of my RPis. So if you click on this one’s “View device stats” you get the stats for the other one. I tried rebooting but makes no difference…
UPDATE3: 10/5 The sixth one has been added with a different id, so looks like it sorted itself out eventually. That means I can monitor the work done by my computers from my Boinc account.
Sorry for the delayed reply @vinntec - yes, you are correct, the stats processing is done in batches by Rosetta, typically only once per 24 hours. Sounds like once it ran on their side, it sorted you out. Excellent!
