I have a Balena based application running in VirtualBox.
Is there any way to duplicate this VirtualBox image so I get a clone appearing in the Balena-cloud device listing?
I would prefer to not have to install the VirtualBox image from scratch, but I am uncertain whether there exists a reliable approach to create a cloned device, e.g. by editing the /mnt/boot/config.json file?
Hello @CZoupis welcome to the balena community.
I’m probably not answering directly your question but did you check this? No hardware? Use VirtualBox to simulate a device for balenaCloud!
Hello,
Thank you for the reply! That’s how i created the first device.
Now i want to export the appliance and send it to a colleague. And the target is when they open it a new Balena cloud device to appear.
So far it uses the same.
@CZoupis i didn’t play enough with VM and balena, but the only solution i see is to share the balenaOS image that you used.
Not sure how easy is to do a snapshot of your VM, however that will be a copy of your device instead of a different device.
Yeah, that is the problem.
It is a copy of my device but i want every time someone gets that snapshot to have a new device on balena-cloud.
Then you need to share the image of balenaOS and they need to create a new machine @CZoupis
