Etcher on Windows has a problem

I chose an sdcard with pi-os on it to reuse. I tried to use etcher on fedora to write a new os image. It failed. Fedora thought the card was write-protected so I took it to a windows maachine.

I used diskpart to clean and format the card. Then I ran etcher. I tried 3 time to write the image and, each time, after it finished, it said the write failed.

The only problem is that, as far as I can tell, the write did NOT fail. Windows is happy with the card. It can see all the partitions and files that are supposed to be there.

I have no idea why etcher thought it failed but it certainly seems that something is not right.

Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thank uou

Do you see the same issue on a different SD card?

Also, note that just because the partitions have been created successfully, doesn’t mean that the write was successful!
