Deploying on non-IoT hardware for edge-case testing

Hi there,

We’re running a few tests externally from our board-based fleet, mostly on OS X and in-cloud Linux distros. These are Intel-based systems and have a different hardware makeup compared balenaOS flavours currently offered.

Out of curiosity, is there a balenaOS version we can use for the above mentioned cases? Ideally we want to setup Docker on 2-3 systems, create a new Application in our Balena Cloud and conduct our tests there. This is mostly for running coordinated tests. I realize that Balena is designed for IoT fleets so this use case may not be supported easily.

Hi David. You could try the NUC image which will also work on generic x86 based systems (including virtualized).
