Cellular modem SIM vs. on-board SIM socket?

I just picked up this RAKWireless cellular modem: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07F8QXY1Y/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I’m not sure where I should put the SIM (Hologram.io) - should it go in the slot on the Fin, or in the slot on the modem?

Looking at the datasheet for your card, it looks like the on-board SIM socket is connected to the same pins as the ones on the mPCIe interface, in which case you’d be able to use either the socket on-board or the one on the Fin interchangeably.

Great, thanks @chrisys!

Hi Chrisys,
If this is the case, could you use different sims, monitor the signal strength and swap to the sim with the highest strength?
Cheers,

James

@james not that I’m aware of, I think that only one SIM can be connected at any one time.
