[bug] Release tag not reflected on target device

Querying the supervisor API and viewing the BalenaCloud dashboard display the same behavior. Target devices in our fleet list an older release tag as the ‘current release’, while the devices are tagged to the latest release.

I’ve been able to verify that the devices are updating and running the latest release correctly; however the release/commit tag is not being updated in the supervisor. Rebooting doesn’t seem to fix the behavior.

How are you verifying that the devices are running the latest release correctly? When you look at Supervisor journal logs with journalctl -u balena-supervisor -xef, do you see something like Target state applied, or are there otherwise any logs of note?
