One additional item that I have not seen addressed yet, is that perhaps your audio is actually being broadcast out of the HDMI port, and I think you may have connected speakers via the headphone jack? Can you confirm which audio output you are using, HDMI or 3.5mm audio jack?

And, for testing purposes, can you try whichever you are not currently using, to see if that is the issue? Thanks.

My speakers do not support HDMI Output. I am using an Audio Jack.

Hey there! We believe that this is an issue that is related to the type of device you are using.
The RPi3B revision 1.1 or 1.2 seems to have some interference between the Wifi and the Bluetooth.
We are working on a resolution for that with our devices team and for now, there is a workaround you can use to avoid this issue.
You will need to reflash your device with a new image, and specifically the version 2.38.0 .
You have to follow the following steps:

  • add a new device at your app
  • under select version click the “show updated versions” option and select v2.38.0+rev1
  • reflash your SD card

Please confirm that this is the device you use - RPi3B revision 1.1 or 1.2?
Could you also share with us the containers or services you see on the dashboard?

Hi @JesseBlueberry – that’s a revision of the RPi3B that we’ve seen problems with, due to interference between Wifi and Bluetooth. Can you try reflashing your device with version 2.38.0+rev1, using the instructions given above, and also let us know the containers or services you see on the dashboard?

Hi,

I was having the same issue as JesseBlueberry with my RPi3B v2 with balenaOS 2.50.4+rev1. I could hear the connection noise when I paired with it but it wouldn’t play music. I disabled multi room and it started working.

Going forward, if I want to enable Multiroom - what do I need to change/fix for me to be able to enable multiroom again?

Are you using wifi and bluetooth together, if so that’s a known issue, see https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/issues/1444
