balena-cli web authorization

Hello everyone. I have created an app, got my ssh key setup on my dashboard. I have my device showing up, which is a raspberry pi 3. I used the windows installer for the balena-cli. I open cmd. Typed in “balena login”, it then ask me how I want to login, but when I select the recommended Web authentication, it says connecting to the web dashboard, and the goes to a new line and says “null”. I am not sure what to do. I have tried being logged on the dashboard while doing this, and not being logged on, hoping it would redirect me to select Authorize, but it doesn’t. Anyone’s help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
Sorry you’re having problems. Looks like you have run into a bug with the CLI logging agent, where errors are sometimes not being displayed. A fix for this should be released very shortly (possibly today). In the mean time, if you are on windows, please could you try typing this line before you try logging in again set DEBUG=1 - this may give us more information about the underlying issue. As a workaround you could as try logging in with one of the other methods (e.g. using a token from the dashboard, or by entering your login credentials directly).
Regards,
Scott

Just an update: The new CLI version v11.28.14 should now fix the error supression issue. Please could you install the latest version of the CLI and try again? We should then be able to see what the underlying issue is.

Yes, I am out of town at the moment, but will try once I get home.

Hi,

Were you able to get this sorted after updating to the latest balena CLI? Please let us know if there’s anything we might do from our end.

Best regards,
John
