Hi there,
I have partitioned the SSD of my iMac (Sequoia 15.6) with a 140 Gb for ZorinOS.
Have downloaded Zorin-OS-17.3-Core-64-bit-r2.iso which I planed to flash on a 36 Gb USB key (exFAT) using BalenaEchter…
The result is something like “your key cannot be read by this computer” and the key has lost its name… so it has to be reformated in order to appear on the desktop…
What can I do ? Can I flash the 140 Gb partition directly?
Thanks a lot
Hello,
Can you confirm where the error message “your key cannot be read by this computer” is originating from? Is it from Etcher, or your OS?
Secondly, I don’t believe you can flash partitions directly from the Host OS, running from the same block device.
Hi Sam,
Thank you for your prompt response, (being 83, I do not rush that much these days…).
My goal was to part my SSD (MacOS) and install Zorin on the partition, thus having a MacOS computer as well as a Linux one.
I have both Balena Echter and extFS for Mac.
Here is what the partition looks like (see “SSD partition” attachment). I also have a USB stick named “amorce” but it becomes “USB DISK 3.0 Media” in balenaEchter.
I have read that the partition format supposed to host Linux was ext4… hence extFS for Mac…
Now, in balenaEchter, Select target, when I am asked the password to allow privileged access … (I use my general paswd for starting the computer) and I clic on “flash” - It says “starting” but it does not start!.. (Error starting flasher sidecar process…).
I therefore have no bootable file…
Thank you for your help,
Best regards from
