Unable to install on modern distros due to 10+ year deprecation period of gconf having ended

Debian Testing has removed gconf2 packages.

gconf-service and gconf2 no more available in debian unstable

Cannot install deb archive on Debian Unstable because they completely remove some of the dependecies of Balena Etcher, namely gconf2 and gconf-service, see https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1043068

You are being begged developers to fix your packages for 8+ MONTHS. Please correct this ASAP.
