I have happily used Balena Etcher for some years now, but I recently updated my Ubuntu Studio installation to 24.04. When I tried to install via apt, I got the following error message:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
balena-etcher-electron : Depends: gconf2 but it is not installable
Depends: gconf-service but it is not installable
Depends: libgconf-2-4 but it is not installable
I have since found out that gconf has been deprecated from both Debian and Ubuntu repositories. Per:
" Gnome has moved away from gconf to dconf long time ago. Last releases that did package gconf is Ubuntu Lunar 23.04 and Debian Bookworm 12. Then it was dropped from later releases…Best option is to use appimage package or alternative tool, till fixed upstream."
I tried to install the 32 bit AppImage, but the system did not recognize the file name. Where can I get a 64 bit Linux AppImage for Balena Etcher? Thanks in advance.
