Shutting down a balenaSound device without an internet connection

I have a multiple device BalenaSound system set up to run without an internet connection. It works great (minus a few hiccups I may ask about later), and I really appreciate all of you who have made it so easy to set up. However, I cannot leave the system on indefinitely and I believe just cutting power to the pis has corrupted one of the sd cards a couple times now. It’s easy enough to rebuild the cards, just a bit of a pain I’d prefer avoiding if possible.

Is there a way to shut the pi down “properly” without an internet connection? Maybe I have to ssh into them to do so? If so, can I do that from an Android phone? Not that I know anything about ssh connections but I will figure it out if that is a viable way to go. Thanks in advance for your help or even just your time reading this.

Hello @quintus,

This is a great question. Have you seen this thread on creating a power button for balenaOS?

From your post, I’m not sure if you’re thinking about a remote method or a physical button, but the thread does go into some hostOS stuff that might be interesting to research. It might get you closer to an answer.

I hope this helps!

That is very useful. Thank you!

No problem, @quintus. I hope this leads to a useful solution. You’ll have to show it off if you get to that point.
