Serious Privacy Concerns with Etcher 1.4.4

TL;DR Etcher makes a surprisingly large number of network connections behind the scenes that are not necessary for burning an ISO image to a SD card or thumb drive. Furthermore, when a user disables the option “Anonymously report errors and usage statistics to resin.io,” the app STILL makes most of those connections to sites that collect usage statistics. Thanks for opening this issue, and welcome to the forum!

You seem to have linked to a forum post, thats linked to a GitHub issue that has been resolved. If you see the latest versions of balenaEtcher - you should see that there is an option to disable sending of crash reports and usage stats. Have you set that option? If balenaEtcher continues to report stats after that, thats a bug and please let us know so that we can get on it.
