New installed device registers but does not boot

The SATA controller only supports IDE, or at least, I don’t see any AHCI settings, only IDE ones. Maybe that’s why we have this problem?

Rootdelay=10 did not cause a noticeable delay after inserting it into the boot line.

BTW is there a “recommended devices” or “we got these devices to boot” forum/list/wikipage/…?

Hi. Given the plethora of x86 systems out there we do not have such a list unfortunately.
We have various customers using different x86 designs.
Could you maybe check for a BIOS update? Maybe that would allow for AHCI. Also, can you check with the hw vendor and ask them if the hw actually supports ahci mode?

So to be clear we need AHCI?

We found a newer axiomtek with AHCI and it works on the first attempt. Good work guys :+1:

Great to hear its working! Looks like that’s indeed the case. I’ll see if it be worth adding this to our documentation!

I think that if it’s a strict requirement, that would be good! On the other hand, as time passes, this applies to fewer and fewer devices.

Thanks for your help!
