Hi jmakivic,
Thank you for looking into the problem and for providing a possible solution! I will try to follow the link you provide to try to get to work.
Did you set up your project using balena blocks? I did not set up the system so I don’t know how to answer your question. However here are the instructions my friend provided for me to use if I ever had a problem:
In the past this has resolved any problem I have experienced until now. The message that has been coming up under “photo” with a status of “Installed” has been new and I have not be able to overcome this problem. I will let you know if I can replicate the success you had. Thank you!!
@bardales ah ok. Thanks for sharing this. Just a note, when you use the new solution you will use your local IP Address with 8888 at the end instead of 8080. If you have trouble finding your local IP address, just ping me over here and I’ll help you out.
I just tried following the directions for Google Photos and am getting an error message as follows:
Please advise what to try next.
Thank you.
In Google Photos, open an album, click the “share” icon at the top, then select “copy link” from the popup box. (Looks like the popup in your recent screenshot) The resulting link should be copied and pasted as the device variable GALLERY_URL
value in your balenaCloud dashboard.
Your old GALLERY_URL
worked just fine! If possible, try to reuse that one, otherwise I can try to find it for you.
Hello jmakivic!
We are making a little bit of progress!
- I copied the link from Googlephotos and am able to see the front screen of the appropriate photo album. However it is a stagnent image and no photos are being cycled through.
- I again tried the "old GALLERY_URL and nothing happens
- I tried a specific picture from the appropriate Google photo gallery and I can get that to show; but again, no photos are being cycled through.
Please advise what to try next.
Thank you!
@bardales can you please re-enable support access again? Also, did you make sure to set all of the same device variables you had previously? I think there is a variable which enables the slideshow, as well.
Hi jmakivic,
I just did! Let me know what else you need. Thanks.
I don’t know how to “reset the device variables”.
@bardales okay, I think I see a few things going on. It seems like you are still running the old version of your friend’s application and you still have that error with the photos service. Do you know how to push an application to the Balena?
No I do not. Please advise, thank you.
@bardales no worries!
First, read up on getting started with Balena: Welcome - Balena Documentation
This is the part which is most relevant to you: Deploy to your fleet - Balena Documentation
This is what you need to do:
Let me know if you have any questions!
Hi jmakivic,
I have looked over the links you provided and don’t know how to proceed.
-I click on “GitHUb…” but I don’t know how to “clone” it?
-Where or how do I “Push it to your Balena device using Balena Deploy?” You say “linked above” but I don’t know where that link is?
Please advise,
Thank you.
I did click on “Code” which revealed the information below. Is this where I’m supposed to go? I tired copying the link highlighted but it is just the same page…
I have reactivated the “Grant Access” for another week. Please let me know what else I can do to help resolve the problem I am still having. Thank you.
Hello,
I am still in need of assistance to resolve my problem. Please let me know when someone is available to help. Is there any kind of service program I can pay for to have continuous assistance available? Thank you in advance.

Hi jmakivic!
Do you know when this week you will be able to assist? I would love to be able to block out a section of time so that I am available in case you have any questions. Please let me know when that might be!
Thanks in advance for your assistance,

Hi @bardales ,
I’ve taken some time to consult with my colleagues, let’s try this first:
-
purchase a new SD Card.
-
Follow these instructions (Get started with Raspberry Pi 3 and Node.js - Balena Documentation) to add a device. Scroll down to “Add your first device” in order to see how to add a device.
- After that, scroll down to “Provision device” in order to use Balena Etcher to flash the SD Card.
After this, wait a few minutes. A new device should show up in your application.
If the new device does still not work properly, we will see what else we can do. Have you considered showing this entire forum thread to the person who helped set this up for you? If they already know how to use Balena, they shouldn’t have any problems implementing this solution remotely.
Hello,
Is anyone available to assist? I do not know what I am doing.
*I purchased a new micro SD card.
*I accessed Etcher, but don’t know what to select when it asks about the Flash to use?
I don’t know how to proceed at this point, or if I am doing this correctly. Please advise.
Thank you.
