Flash Fail At 8% In Verification

Hello,
I’ve been trying to flash something and it gets to 7-8% in verification and then I get a flash failed. I’m using windows 10 and etcher 1.5.116. I’ve tried turning off anti virus software, and reinstalling software. I’m using a brand new microsd card as well as a new microsd card reader. I only have one port on my computer so at the moment I cannot try another. I have a copy of the error I was given from the developer tools.

Hi

That’s strange, and thanks for sharing the logs.

  • Can you try something - disable write verification from the settings, and see if your device actually works as expected. Let us know how that goes.
  • Can you share what image you are using? Some images, for example Tails OS have known issues.
  • Also take a look at the answer from my colleague here

You are right. Seems like that feature has been removed from the recent versions of Etcher. I was looking at an older release. Let me get back to you after talking to the engineers working on Etcher

Thank you, I appreciate the help

I tried it on a different computer and had the same issue at 8%. Going to purchase new microsd and reader and hope the problem is something do with that even despite the previous ones being brand new.

Hi

Did the different computer have the same OS as this one? If yes can you try this from Linux or Mac?

Hello,
This is either the same issue as Checksums do not match - #82 by zvin or a faulty SD card.
Try flashing the same image to the same SD card from a Linux or macOS computer to be sure.

The Validate write on success setting was removed recently. Etcher will always verify after writing, you can hit the skip button to skip the verification.

I had to use a micro SD to SD adapter for it to work. Not sure why that was a problem but it was successful after that. Thank you all for the suggestions

Hi, glad to hear this worked. Did you tested other mSD cards without the adapter to see if you get the same issue?

Yes I tried it on two different computers with the microsd and I also used two different readers. It wasn’t until I used the micro to sd adapter that it worked.
