Etcher stuck at "Starting"

Trying to create a Mint 22 bootable USB stick with Etcher, which I downloaded at the start of this “episode” of failures.

I’m doing this on my older PC (circa 2019, i5, 16GB RAM), which I recently “upgraded” :thinking: from Win10 to Win11.

I’m going round in circles, every time I select the ISO file, which I’ve verified, then click on the USB drive & the “Flash”, it goes to “starting” and stays there forever.

Eventually I had to remove the USB stick and then it was stuck as a RAW device, used disk management to bring it back to life but get the same issue. I then tried turning OFF Norton 360, but still no joy. Incredibly frustrating as I’ve spent about 4 hours going round in circles many times.

Any help would be much appreciated in resolving this issue.

Hi @KevP, thanks for reaching out.

Can you confirm the version of Etcher you’re using please?

I’m running version 2.1.4.

I literally downloaded it a day or 2 ago to try & create a linux mint bootable usb.

Regards, Kev P.

Update:

It seems to be working now. :grinning_face:

I ran etcher as administrator AND turned off Norton for an hour (until it finished).

I’m hoping to run Mint from the USB stick only for now. To get familiar with it & it’s foibles;

but at some point I’ll wipe the PC drives & install mint on the SSD,

And then start to really get to know it and maybe eventually dump Win 11 on new PC too?

Regards, Kev P.

Thanks for confirming @KevP
