Enable authenticated shell through serial console in production mode

Hello,
I’m using the stock “Compulab IOTDIN-iMX8P 1G-8G DRAM” image and I’d like to be able to open a shell through the DBG USB port in a secure manner.
This brings me two questions:

  1. Is it possible to enable the serial console on this device in the production mode?
  2. Is it possible to add an authentication layer (most likely password auth) to the shell login in the serial console?
