Broke ? a USB SSD while cloning...

Hello.

I’m coming here because I tried to clone my raspberry pi 4 SD CARD to my BX500 SSD. At around 90%, it was stuck and it failed 2 minutes after.

I tried on 2 differents [windows 11] DISKPART, Windows partition manager and a backup tool (can’t remeber the name), and even retried balena etcher, but none of theses tools can’t find the disk. It like disappeared.

I’ve also tried on a linux (gparted, lsblk, …) but it can’t see the disk …

Also tried on BIOS, nothing …

Thanks for reaching out, can you let us know what version of etcher you were trying to use on your first time cloning. A great blog post containing most of the issues folks see is documented here: Etcher broke my USB stick … or did it?
