Writer process ended unexpectedly (macOS)

I’ve been having this problem intermittently for some time. The update to version 1.5.102 seems to have made it worse. I’m running on Catalina 10.15.6. Select the file. Select the drive. Press FLASH. Enter password, and immediately get the error in the title.

Hi Steven, thanks for providing the logs. We are passing along the information to the Etcher maintainers. Can I ask what you are using to flash the SD card? Are you using an SD card reader? Could you share the brand/model with us?

Thanks
Felipe

I’m using the SDXC card slot in my iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014) with a SanDisk adapter (came with the uSD cards).

Hi Steven, the trace indicates the target resource is busy. Could you please try to use a different adapter, and if that does not work try running with sudo?

OK, I have tried a different adapter, and the first attempt was successful. I have marked that adapter as ‘questionable’, and will continue with the other. However, this problem is intermittent, we’ll see if it reoccurs in the future.

Also, what is the command line to run the application? I’ve always run it by clicking the icon.

BTW, the disk shows up on the desktop when inserted.

Thanks for the help!

Hi Steven, glad that works. To run from the command line try something like:

sudo /Applications/balenaEtcher.app/Contents/MacOS/balenaEtcher
