Serial # of Balena Fin v1.1

Where on the actual Fin hardware is the serial number located? Is it the small QR code?

Out of curiosity, can this number be accessed by software?

Hi there, we started flashing the serial number to an onboard EEPROM from a certain lot onwards. We don’t have yet a way of accessing it via software, but it’s something that will be included on the Fin SDK once it’s released.

Any update on this? We’d love to be able to access the serial number of some of the Fins we have out in the field.

Hi there, starting from balenaFin v1.1.1 we now flash the EEPROM of the devices directly in the factory with the same content of the serial you find in the QRcode on the top side of the board. You can access it with https://github.com/balena-io/balena-fin-sdk ( please note that we have a pending PR there to clarify since which HW revision this software feature is available: https://github.com/balena-io/balena-fin-sdk/tree/6-fix-readme-hwrev
