Hey everyone,
I’ve been trying to troubleshoot a strange issue on my AlmaLinux setup over the last few days and wanted to see if anyone here has run into something similar.
After updating a few system packages recently, I started noticing random browser crashes and permission-related errors whenever certain web-based tools stay open for a while. Sometimes tabs freeze completely, and other times the browser closes without any warning. I also noticed higher CPU usage than normal, especially during longer sessions.
At first I thought it was related to SELinux policies or GPU acceleration, but even after testing with different browsers and temporarily adjusting a few security settings, the issue still happens randomly.
The problem became more obvious while trying to use a download icon feature from a browser-based gaming utility during downtime between work tasks. I’m not posting it as promotion or anything, only mentioning it because that’s where the crashes seem to happen most consistently on my system.
I’m currently running AlmaLinux 9 with Chrome and Firefox for testing. Logs don’t show anything very clear besides occasional sandbox and rendering warnings, which makes the whole thing harder to diagnose.
Has anyone here experienced browser instability or permission conflicts like this recently on AlmaLinux? I’d appreciate any suggestions because I’m starting to wonder whether this is tied to a recent Chromium update or something deeper in the system libraries.
