NanoPi R2S Plus

Hello there,

I’ve following a few threads addressing the support of NanoPi R2S (Plus) devices. It’s been a year since the last thread I found addressing these devices.

Has there been any progress so far? Especially around the below points:

  • Including the NanoPi R2S (Plus) devices in the Autokit for testing BalenaOS. I understand this is the main reason why selecting NanoPi R2S in the dashboard defaults to BalenaOS v2.98.11, instead of the current v6.5.48
  • Adding support for the “Plus” version, which includes an eMMC.

This particular device, the NanoPi R2S Plus, seems a great fit for low-cost applications that require a simple device without the struggles of working with a SD card based device (we all know SD cards tend to fail often, I’ve been there with Balena applications). On top of that, the small form factor and the dual ethernet ports are great.

Hoping to hear good news soon.

Hi @dsepulvedar we keep track of device support requests and prioritize accordingly. However as you can imagine we can’t support every device type out there, in particular those that do not offer enough differentiation from what is currently supported.

For customers that require support for a specific device, we do offer a paid custom device support service. Please contact us if you would be interested.
