Installing Linux on a specific drive volume (D:, C:, etc) instead of a drive

There should be a option to install onto a different volume of a drive (Select the drive and then the specific volume (C:, D:) instead of being forced to install onto one drive altogether.
My use-case, for example:
Shrink C: to create a D: volume, and install the distro onto D: (In this case i do not have a pendrive.)
