Hey there! I’m continuing research in data transfer from the University of Oxford.
I’m particularly interested to know if you are transferring sensor data over cellular connections using Balena, how much data are you sending over, and how much this is costing you right now.
Hi! I’m using Balena to transfer sensor data over cellular connections. The amount of data varies depending on the application, but it typically ranges from a few megabytes to several gigabytes per month. Costs depend on the data plan and region, but they can add up quickly with high usage.
Yes, we’re transferring sensor data over cellular connections using Balena. We’re sending about amount of data, and it’s costing us around amount currently.
Hi,
Not sure how general input like mine might be helpful, but here it is anyway.
In our uses case we send/receive an average of 10GB/month over LTE per device. This is for about 12 million metrics daily per BalenaOS device.
Our cost is not insignificant, mostly due to the extensive roaming and multi network agreement in the EU we have (our devices do not have a fixed installation location), we pay more than €1.5/GB.
