Hi there
I have tried many times to use balenaEtcher (V1.7.8) to load Tails (tails-amd64-5.6) to two new 32GB flash drives and an old(er) 8GB flash drive. All efforts fail with error message:
“Oops! Looks like the flash failed. Something went wrong while writing…”
I’m using Windows 10
Hello, I was able to flash tails-amd64-5.6
using balenaEtcher 1.7.8 on Windows 10 without any errors. Did you download the Tails file from this page: Tails - Install Tails from Linux ? (Just to be sure we are talking about the same image.) Also, can you provide the output of the Etcher console if there are any error messages there? (Access the console by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+I)
Hi Alanb128
Thank you for your reply
I have the downloaded the tails file from the (neighbouring) “install tails from windows” page. Should I have used the Linux version?
I have viewed the output of the Etcher console and I see an error message at the top:
Failed to load resource: net:: ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND (all red txt)
I see also from the console that the flashing proceeds to “99% with 0 failed devices” and that the verification proceeds to “100% with 0 failed devices”
I dont seem to be able to take a snip of the console log and paste it here - is there another way to provide you with this information?
Thanks again
Hi, can you try Disabling Windows Defender temporarily and try again? We are working on an issue with Windows Defender.
