It would be nice to be able to see the history of what releases a device has been set to. This would help us know what to downgrade to if we have issues with newer releases.
Hey @ tylorbayer.
You have the option to scroll through the older releases, select a previous one or even pin your device to a release. You can read more in our documentation.
Hope this helps and please let me know if you have any further questions.

I would like the see the history for a specific device. As in what was the last release it was pinned to before the release it is currently pinned to.
Hi @ tylorbayer, we do not offer this feature at the moment. I’ll raise this as a feature request and we will update this thread if this feature does get included in balenaCloud. Thanks for sharing with us your use case.
Hi @ tylorbayer, as an alternative to the pinned releases history, you may use release tags to help you identify the when a release was pinned. You can tag the release to indicate the date when it was released. You can either do it from the CLI or from the dashboard. Here are some guides to help you out with this:
- CLI: https://www.balena.io/docs/reference/balena-cli/#tags-1
- Dashboard: https://www.balena.io/docs/learn/more/masterclasses/fleet-management/#4-tagging
I hope this helps you for the mean time.
+1 from my side for this feature request.
Seeing for an individual device, when it was running which release would be helpful!
Thanks
Would also like to see this as we manage multiple active releases across our fleet. If I am troubleshooting a reported bug, it would be really helpful to know what release the device was on at the time of the bug. It is possible that the bug has already been fixed in newer release.
Without an individual device’s release history, it makes this more difficult because I cannot be 100% sure what release that device was on at the time of the report.
Thanks for the +1s. Noted, and we’ll add this to our internal product planning process! We’ll keep you posted on our progress.
Would you mind keeping the update interval to less than a year?
Is there anywhere we can vote for this issue?
