Cellular Modem without phone number

Is it possible to setup a cellular modem without a phone number configured?

My (minuscule) understanding is that Twilio, for example, allows you to purchase a data plan, but a phone number is extra and not required if the the device is only used for data.

Can the cellular modem configuration be setup without a phone number then?

Hello, there is no specific requirement about a phone number and this forum thread: What does "error: couldn't start network: QMI protocol error (14): 'CallFailed' has some examples of a connection file without a phone number but does note some challenges with a Twilio modem.

Thanks. That is helpful. I had first tried to change the line to

number=

… which did not work. But removing the number line entirely allowed it to come back online just fine.
