Access a host mount from container

Can I just check my understanding here? I want to sync a folder with rClone that’s also accessed using the g_mass_storage module on the host. I don’t think this is possible to do using rClone in a container, so it’ll have to be running directly on the host.

It’s not a big deal - the advantage of balena OS for me is the remote config and ease of use for LTE modems etc, more than the containerised format.

Hi,

unfortunately the host OS is read only and adding 3rd party tools to it is not supported.

If I understand correctly, you should be able to do all you need using a container:

• You can use modprobe from a privileged container that has a io.balena.features.kernel-modules as described here docker-compose.yml fields - Balena Documentation
• You can run rclone in a container, they do even provide their own: Docker Hub

Can you please elaborate on why you think it should not work?
