Just to be clear, it is still working, the changes I mentioned were only suggested improvements and a few bug fixes.
I took a look at the Rust code and considered contributing, but it seemed like it was going to be difficult to get continued support. I ended up recreating it in Python instead: Alternative Wi-Fi Connect looking for testers
