BalenaFin cannot connect Internet via 4G modem setting

Thanks - taking a look now. I see the device is online and functioning as expected with the WiFi connection atleast

Hi, having a look at your device it looks like the modem fails to register with the mobile network. This can be because of multiple reasons, could you please check/confirm the following to rule out some possibilities:

  • Is the SIM card protected by a PIN code? In that case you would need to specify it under the [gsm] section of the config file.
  • I assume the device is indoors. Do you have any antennas connected to the modem? In case not, could you try to move it around the room (next to a window is usually good enough) and see whether that helps?
  • Does the SIM card work when you put it into a cell phone?
    Thanks

@mtoman Hi, the device is near a window. SIM card works properly when I tested it within my phone. I added the pin code into cellular file, and I think the problem still exists

It always shows activating not activated

Hi there, are you able to grant support access to 2e397866247f21771235d6f46b43c1fe for a bit please? (assuming it’s still on that ID).

Also, is is possible to disable the PIN on the SIM entirely to see if this is the problem?

@ab77 Hi, I granted the support access now. I also disabled the PIN on SIM card through my phone. And it seems like the problem still exists

The GSM still on activating process not activated

Hey there! the device is offline. Have you disabled the wifi? can you power cycle it please?

Hello again.
It looks like you are using UDEV=on in the application container. Can you try disabling it and see if the device can connect? Or move the device to an empty application(no release created). This will help rule out the issue with UDEV.

Thanks

@rahul-thakoor Hi, I deleted the UDEV setting now and powered it on. It seems like the state is still activating, which is not connected to Internet.

Thanks for the update, did you try moving it to an empty application and try it again making sure UDEV is off like my colleague suggested.

@vipulgupta2048 Hi, yes, I deleted the UDEV variables from both balena cloud and Dockerfile. Do I need to disable it through balena cloud terminal?

Hello, a better way forward would be to create a new empty application and test with that since you already tried disabling the UDEV variable. That way you will be sure to start on a clean slate.
