Assistance understanding output? Trying to install PiHole using BalenaOS and BalenaCloud

Hello all, I’d like to start off by letting you all know I’m new to this world of Linux, balena and pihole but have a technical and computer background and am able to follow directions, typically. I wasn’t sure where exactly to stick this so thought I’d start in this Topic but if I belong elsewhere please feel free to let me know and I will move the discussion. Thank you in advance for any of yours time and assistance. It will be greatly appreciated

Okay, so I am trying to install pihole using balenacloud (I think I said that correctly). I feel I have successfully followed the instructions but after completion my pihole is not working. thought I maybe did something wrong the 1st installation since I am new to all of this, so I blew it all out and started from scratch and the results were the same. In the terminal it keeps showing the following (see below) which I can tell is not right but don’t know the next steps to correct?

I was following the instructions in the following link
https://www.balena.io/blog/deploy-network-wide-ad-blocking-with-pi-hole-and-a-raspberry-pi/. Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.

Hey @BIgLexLost welcome to the forum and thanks for trying the project!

Could you share what device you’re using for the project? I would also recommend checking that all the environment variables have been set according to the readme on the project here: https://github.com/klutchell/balena-pihole

I just ran a quick test on a device here and pushed the latest version of the project to a Pi 3 and it seemed to work OK; the benefit of doing projects like this is that they are (usually!) reproducible as everything is automated, so hopefully a simple fix for you.

Just a note that in case you’re trying to use a Pi Zero, the project doesn’t support that device right now, but support is in development (see here: https://github.com/klutchell/balena-pihole/pull/36)

I hope this helps
